Support Scheme for International Applications

The Faroese Research Council now offers financial support for Faroese participants in international projects — for both networking activities and consultancy in connection with applications.

The purpose of this scheme is to provide financial support to Faroese applicants during the initial phases in international projects, either for networking meetings and/or for consultancy when writing applications for international research and innovation calls.

The Faroese contribution to the international project must be formal and significant in the application. That is, support will not be granted for participation as a subcontractor or if the Faroese role is minor in the project.

This scheme supplements networking opportunities that Faroese participants have through the COST scheme or similar arrangements.

Who can apply?
- Employees of companies or institutions operating in the Faroe Islands
- Applicants must be eligible in the relevant international programme
-  Support can only be granted once for work on an application within the same initiative under NordForsk or the same area of Horizon Europe.

What kind of support is available?
- Networking & meetings abroad (e.g. consortium setup, Brokerage Events)
→ Up to DKK 10,000 for travel and accommodation
- External consultancy for major individual applications (e.g. Horizon Europe ERC, MSCA, EIC, Widening,, or a project where a Faroese applicant will be the coordinator)
→ Up to DKK 70,000, by agreement with the Research Council

When and how to apply?
- Apply after the relevant call is publicly announced
- Applications are processed on a rolling basis – no fixed deadline
- Submit at least 6 weeks before the international deadline

- You’ll receive a decision within 10 working days
