New Anthology on Dilemmas in the Danish Realm
DIIS - Danish Institute for Internationale Studies has published a new Anthology exploring dillemmas in the Danish Realm.
As climate change and great powers put pressure on the security situation in the Arctic and the North Atlantic, a series of dilemmas arise in the cooperation and division of responsibilities within the Danish Realm.
• How do you, for example, handle it when domestic issues such as the development of airports or the expansion of 5G networks become matters of security policy?
• Can Denmark take a critical stance on Faroese abortion legislation – and how can Faroese feminists invite international human rights criticism into the debate?
• What dilemmas emerge when two countries working towards sovereignty must choose partners to safeguard their defense?
• How can a more equal partnership be put together on the other side of the Danish Realm?
These are some of the questions and dilemmas that a number of researchers discuss in a new anthology from DIIS.
The anthology is financed by FASDiNA, a research programme funder by the Danish Finance Act to create new knowledge on foreign, defense, and security policy in the Arctic and North Atlantic, in collaboration between Faroese, Greenlandic, and Danish researchers.
Ulrik Pram Gad, Senior Researcher at DIIS, has lead the work in cooperation with Faroese, Greenlandic, and Danish researchers.
