Debes Hammershaimb Christiansen won the media award
Debes Hammershaimb Christiansen, whose innovative foresight laid the foundation for the successful Faroese Covid-19 testing system, has won the 2020 media award.
He was presented with the award at Tórshavn’s Kongshøll as part of the annual ‘Vísindavøka’ science day.
The adjudication committee voted unanimously for Christiansen as the winner, praising his generous dedication.
”Debes Hammershaimb Christiansen has not only played a crucial role in the fight against the coronavirus; he has also generously shared his vast knowledge on the subject in Faroese and international media,” Bergur D. Hansen, the dean of the University of the Faroe Islands, said at the award ceremony.
