Knowledge facilitates a just and democratic society
Research in the social sciences has the purpose of promoting sustainable growth and a just and democratic society. Research must be included in the organisation of society and for making professionally sound decisions. Research must inform society of its possible choices and their consequences of them.
The task is to identify the interconnections of todays complex society, explain how they work and how this knowledge could be used to improve society as a whole. This is an extensive task covering all of the social sciences including: economics, law, commerce, international trade, communication, culture, housing, health and social issues and sustainable management of natural resources.
Important components to include are the trends which accompany globalisation and the experiences that other countries, similar to the
Faroe Islands
, have made in meeting its challenges.
