Culture develops through thorough knowledge of cultural heritage
Thorough knowledge of cultural heritage is a requisite for cognitive social development. Cultural heritage is the research subject of the humanities: architecture, linguistics, literature, history, art, dramatic art and music.
Our heritage is the accumulation of ideas and impressions from neighbouring countries, shaped by the Faroese experience. Scientific research shall look into our cultural heritage in relation to movements and trends in the international community.
Historically, the Faroese have expressed a sense of nationality through their cultural heritage. Literature, history and art have played a very important role in shaping the Faroese perception of nature and environment. Education at all levels is an important factor in cultural expression along with religion, which has had a profound influence on Faroese culture.
The study of cultural issues is vital in a time when creativity and ideology are of increasing importance in business and commerce.
